Closing of JDS2013 (in Fiscal Year 2012)
The Japanese Grant Aid for Human Resource Development Scholarship (JDS) announces that JDS2013 (in Fiscal Year 2012) selected 24 final successful candidates officially announced in March 6th, 2013.
A new recruitment for next JDS (JDS2014 in Fiscal Year 2013) has not been determined yet. But, if next JDS starts, its schedule and procedure would be similar as the following of this year. Please keep in touch with JDS project, and we are looking forward to your applications!
Introduction
The Japanese Grant Aid for Human Resource Development Scholarship (JDS) has been started in the Kingdom of Cambodia since 2000. Up to day, total of 272 fellows have been sent to Japan.
JDS is now inviting potential applicants who understand its aims and are interested in 1 - 2 year master degree program at Japanese accepting universities for the academic year 2012-2013.The program will be instructed in English. The number of dispatches is 24 per year.
Sub-Program/ Component and Accepting University
Fields of study, so called “Sub-Program” and "Component", correspond to and deal with the target priority issues for the social and economic development of the Kingdom of Cambodia. The participants of JDS shall be selected from the “Target Organizations” whose mission is closely related to the respective “Sub-Program” and "Component". This approach gives its most importance on “Selection and Concentration” on the development issues of the country, securing further effectiveness and efficiencies of the JDS project.

Eligible Applicants
- 1. Citizen of Cambodia;
- 2. Between the age of 22 and 39 as of April 1, 2013;
- 3. Currently employed in the Target Organization with permanent status (Except Contract Staff);
- 4. Has at least two years of work experience in the Target Organization at the time of application;
- 5. Has bachelor's degree;
- 6. Has a good command of both written and spoken English (TOEFL score of 500 / IELTS 5.5 or higher is preferred but not required);
- 7. Has not been obtained Master’s degree under the support of foreign scholarship;
- 8. Must not be serving in the military.

2. Application Deadline
Application documents will not be returned for any reason. Late submission and incomplete application documents shall NOT be accepted.
3. Tentative Schedule
- August 23, 2012: Start of Public Announcement
- October 24, 2012: Deadline of Submission of Application Form and Required Documents
- Early November, 2012: English and Basic Mathematics Examination
- Mid November - Early December, 2012: First Selection (Screening the documents by Accepting University)
- Mid December - Late December, 2012: Health Check-up
- Late January, 2013: Second Selection (Interview by Accepting University)
- Mid February, 2013: Third Selection (Interview by JDS Operating Committee Members)
- Early March, 2013: Announcement of the Final Successful Candidates
- July, 2013: Pre-departure Orientation in Phnom Penh (mandatory)
- August, 2013: Departure for Japan

˘£ Research plan
In the JDS selections, each candidates will be evaluated her/his academic abilities enough to pursue the master program in Japan as well as the potential of the future contribution to the country. Thus, it is highly recommended to explain that the objective of your research plan be in connection with the development issues under applying Component, and to rationalize how the study will be addressed in accordance with the career path, corresponding to the current position and responsibility in the belonging organization.
It is also recommended to study your applying university to make sure if the curriculums of the university and fields of specialization of faculty members are relevant to your research.
Remember that plagiarize from somebody’s work or websites are strongly prohibited.

˘£ English & Math Exam
Every qualified applicant will be required to take English proficiency test (ITP-TOEFL) ,as well as math testĦĦ(except for those applying for Nagoya University (GS of Law) / University of Tsukuba) in Phnom Penh on early November, 2012.
˘ĦTOEFL consists 3 parts with ‘Listening Comprehension (50 questions)’ for 40 minutes, ‘Structure and Written Expression (40 questions)’ for 25 minutes, and ‘Reading Comprehension (50 questions)’ for 55 minutes.
˘ĦMath test of around 60 minutes consists of Arithmetic operations, Solving fractions, Equations, Inequality, Matrix, Basic quadratic functions, Basic operations of exponential and logarithmic functions, Basic Integral and Differentiation, etc.
The scores will be used as reference purpose on the 1st selection by the accepting universities. Universities may require the applicants to have good command of English skill (TOEFL score of 500 or higher) and numeracy skills. Please be well-prepared yourself for the exams.
