The Japanese Grant Aid for Human Resource Development Scholarship (JDS) program has been started in Vietnam since 2000. Up to now, total of 363 fellows have been sent to Japan.
JDS program is now inviting potential applicants who understand its aims and are interested in 2 year master degree program at Japanese accepting universities for the academic year 2013-2014.The program will be instructed in English. The number of fellows is 30 per year.

Fields of study, so called “Sub-Program” and “Component”, correspond to and deal with the target priority issues for the social and economic development of Vietnam. The participants of JDS shall be selected from the “Public Sector” whose mission is closely related to the respective “Sub-Program” and “Component”. This approach gives its most importance on “Selection and Concentration” on the development issues of the country, securing further effectiveness and efficiencies of the JDS project.

• 1. Citizen of Vietnam and residing in Vietnam at the time of application;
• 2. Between age of 24 and 34 as of April 1, 2013;
  (For the component "Development of Legal Framework", between the age of 24 and 39)
• 3. Must be government employee;
• 4. Required at least two years (including at least six months at current organization) of full-time work experience;
• 5. Has bachelor degree;
• 6. Has a good command of English (TOEFL ITP500 or iBT61 / IELTS 5.0 or higher);
•     **IELTS: With no sub-band under 5.0
•     **For ICU applicants: TOEFL550 / IELTS6.5 or higher is preferred.
•     **Only the scores obtained in the year 2011-2012
• 7. Has good Health Condition: Pregnant applicants are not eligible for applying JDS;
• 8. Has not been obtained Master degree under the support of a foreign scholarship;
• 9. Must not be serving in the military.

Research plan

In the JDS selections, each candidates will be evaluated her/his academic abilities enough to pursue the master program in Japan as well as the potential of the future contribution to the country. Thus, it is highly recommended to explain that the objective of your research proposal be in connection with the development issues under applying Component, and to rationalize how the study will be addressed in accordance with the career path, corresponding to the current position and responsibility in the belonging organization. It is also recommended to study your applying university to make sure if the curriculums of the university and fields of specialization of faculty members are relevant to your research. Please refer to ‘Guideline for Writing a Research Proposal’ in the Application Guideline for more information. Remember that plagiarize from somebody’s work or websites are strongly prohibited.

English & Math Exam

The scores will be used only as reference purpose on the 1^st selection by the accepting universities. Please be well-prepared yourself for the exams.
■ TOEFL for only applicants who do not have required score at the time of application    
■ Math test for all applicants (except Nagoya university)
