Message from President

Statement by Mr. Kazuhisa Matsuoka, President, the Japan International Cooperation Center (JICE)

We, the Japan International Cooperation Center (JICE) established in 1977, have been playing an important role in Japan's international cooperation by implementing human resource development programs for developing countries. We have accumulated knowledge and skill as an expert organization of this field through various projects conducted both in Japan and abroad.

We have pride in our achievement as one of non-profit foundations taking part in Japan's international cooperation and contributing to the development of the international community. This pride helps us carry out our mission as a driving force. Namely, it has been deeply engraved in our mind and inherited like a gene. We are determined to strive towards excellence, taking full advantage of the invaluable assets that we have gained through our experience. While we work harder as a team to further improve our expertise, each member must strengthen the awareness of professionalism and the sense of responsibility.

International cooperation provides us with time and place where parties concerned can learn and understand with each other. We are very pleased to see ourselves achieve a greater role in the project. We learn and deepen mutual understanding with people in the world. The mission statement and catch-lines stated here are our guiding principle and firm determination to stand on our feet as a professional entity for human resource development and a reliable non-profit organization.

Mission Statement

We, as professionals in human resource development cooperation, help developing countries nurture people to build their nations, while learning together and enhancing mutual understanding. We are committed to creating a world of peace and prosperity.

Trainees and students from overseas, especially from developing countries, come to Japan to share the knowledge, technology, and experience that our country has accumulated, in hopes of building their own countries. At the same time, Japanese experts and volunteers disseminate their expertise in a wide range of specialized fields around the world.
Since our establishment in 1977, we have supported developing countries in developing human resources through various activities. We learn together and deepen mutual understanding by linking trainees, participants, and students from abroad to training institutes, citizens, experts, and volunteers who serve in every corner of the world.
We are determined to carry out our mission of extending cooperation to developing countries to help advance their societies. We will further improve our capabilities as human resource development professionals based on abundant experience and an extensive human network in the field. We are dedicated to creating a world of trust, peace, and prosperity through our role in Japan's efforts in international cooperation.
