I MEET JAPAN
(Participant in the Philippines high school student group visiting Japan April 2009)
I was heading to the post office with two letters with me; both were addressed to Japan; one for my friend in Osaka and one for my host family in Hyogo.
It has been almost a year since I saw them and a year since the JENESYS 2009 was held.
During that time, I met countless of friends. Ten days may seem not enough but with short acquaintance I was able to build lasting friendships and even now that we are ocean apart our communication still continues, it even seems that I gained deeper relation with them as we change messages through internet, mails, share pictures and even send snail mails to each other.
I would want to come back, for Japan is a stunning place. Every corner is beautiful and the atmosphere is cool, and I miss it. There would be a difference though, and it’s the uniqueness of the program itself.
If I come back alone, I won't be experiencing the warm welcome of the high school students, I won’t be able to eat in excellent restaurants with my friends, to study Nihongo, Calligraphy and Japanese songs, to tour in historical spots and create fun moments, but more than anything is that I won't be able to stay in a very thoughtful and generous place like my host family's.
My okasan, otousan and imouto-san took care of me, and treat me as their own. They served me delicious Japanese foods; eat happily together and even played bowling.
All these great blessings I experienced during the JENESYS program will be treasured and I am very thankful for everything. They made hundred lives of people smile.
